Word hints - Math & Table functions
Here is the way to enter formulas into a Word document to allow calculations. First pick the insertion point in the document that you want to insert the resulting calculation. Next hit CTRL+F9 to give you a set of the curly braces used for Word fields (just typing these fields will not work)

Now, between the braces type something like   =&PREM&-&CO_AMT&  You can use the TAM field insert tool, but it will "hide" your field, so you will have to toggle the hidden field by hitting ALT+F9.  You should now see something like this   {=&PREM&-&CO_AMT&}

To position and format this calculation, you can insert this formula into a table which will give you the ability to do alignment, font and line/shading controls. see the following from the Word6 help file:

Word97 will also have similar capabilities, but the formatting of the results are handled a little differently - see the associated help file.

Formatting info -
You can get instant info about the formatting of any text of object in a word document by pressing SHIFT+F1  this will change the pointer into a question mark which can be placed over any area and just click to get a Format Info window to appear. This also works on any icon or toolbar item to get a description of what that item does. To return to the standard pointer and functions, just hit ESC.
